The linguistics and philosophy of manipulative speech @ Edinburgh PPLS

In our everyday life, we are surrounded by linguistic messages/interactions involving diverse societal and political goals. These include advertisement, political messaging, and online mis/disinformation. In this talk series, leading scholars in linguistics and philosophy discuss how we can better understand the mechanisms underlying such manipulative linguistic practices.
Speakers
All talks will start at 4pm and lasts for about 45-50 minutes, followed by a discussion period. There will be reception after each talk (except for Oct 11).
